How to calculate sales tax
Total with tax = Subtotal × (1 + Sales tax / 100)
If the subtotal is $250 and sales tax is 8.25%, tax adds $20.63 and the final total becomes $270.63. Removing tax works in reverse by backing the tax out of the total.
